Interpreting for elections and campaigns
Language should not keep people out of a conversation. Lingfaro serves Minnesota election offices and campaign organizations with scheduled spoken and sign language interpretation, in person or through an external video service.
For election offices
Plan interpretation for public information sessions, community meetings, and staff briefings. Share the topic, preferred languages, expected attendance, and schedule so the team can review the request.
For work at a voting location, confirm the permitted role and arrangements with the responsible election official before booking. An interpreting booking does not establish permission to assist with voting or replace the office’s procedures.
For campaign organizations
Arrange language support for scheduled campaign meetings, public events, and question-and-answer sessions. Identify the organizer and event purpose clearly, and share an agenda and speaker materials in advance.
The interpreter’s role is to convey what people say faithfully, including questions and disagreements. Interpretation is not an endorsement, political strategy, or advocacy on behalf of a campaign.
Make room for every speaker
- Ask participants about language, dialect, and communication preferences.
- Share the event format, duration, number of speakers, and whether people will ask questions.
- Plan microphones, lighting, seating, and clear sight lines for sign language interpretation.
- For video, test sound and visibility and agree how participants can request a pause.
- Keep voter records, political preferences, and other unnecessary personal information out of scheduling notes.
Review the plan before committing
Tell us the setting, language needs, location, and timing. Our team reviews the request and approves the proposed terms before commitment. Review the session afterward, before payment.
